Edits are exciting

The edits are underway. It so exciting to see the stories in this collection become the best versions of themselves. If you look closely, you may see my enthusiastic pink “yes” under a note from my editor. Tentative book title is It Will Happen.

Working with the brilliant Bethany Gibson on edits of my collection. Bethany edited my novel Going Fast, which was my most complex work, and so I look forward to her input again. I have taken chances in this collection and I hope to surprise readers.

Thrilled that the amazing Goose Lane will be publishing my new short story collection. I am beyond happy to be back.

Shelagh Rogers

Thanks to Susan Juby for saying lovely things about the Most Heartless Town in Canada while appearing in Shelagh Rogers.  Susan called my book the Canadian version of The Family Fang, which was both generous and uplifting.

Matrix Contest

One of my new stories is on the Matrix Lit POP short list and will be in my upcoming collection. Another appeared in the Nashwaak Review at St. Thomas University. I have recently been inspired by some amazing collections from Atlantic Canada, affirming to me that short stories can be visceral, poignant, and funny.

Happy to be on the CBC short story longlist.
